にほんのおんがく!

こんにちは!

I really enjoyed seeing everyone's posts last week! For my post this week, I wanted to share two Japanese songs that I have known and enjoyed for many years. They have very different styles, but they are both favorites of mine.

The first song is "Senkyaku Banrai" (千客万来) by MIYAVI and DAOKO, which was used as the theme song for the movie Diner. MIYAVI is a Japanese musician known for his "slap" style guitar playing, and I really like how his energetic guitar blends with DAOKO's vocals in this particular song. The song itself is very fast-paced, and the music video is incredibly colorful and stylized. I find the rhythm and the flow of the Japanese lyrics really catchy.

The second song is "Whiteness ~Yuki no Kubikazari~" (Whiteness ~雪の首飾り~) by the band LAREINE. This song belongs to the Visual Kei genre (of which I am a big fan), which is famous for its elaborate costumes and theatrical themes. The title translates to "Snow Necklace." I think this song is a bit more melodic and dramatic than the first one. I think it's also a great song for our class because the singer's pronunciation is very clear, so it's easier to hear the individual sounds and intonation (even if we don't understand everything that is being sung).

I hope you enjoy these two different styles of music!
